Survivor Economic Empowerment

A chance to earn. More room to choose.

Survivors of forced marriage and exploitation need more than a way out of harm. They need the means to shape what comes next. Through support from the Freedom Fund’s Survivor Leadership Fund, ACT Uganda worked with survivors in Lamwo District on economic empowerment and strengthened the organisation’s ability to serve them.

This detail is linked from ACT Uganda’s Women and Youth Economic Empowerment card, following the proposed content mapping. The funding source named here is specific to the Survivor Economic Empowerment draft; the existing umbrella card retains its current “Community-driven funding” label.

Building practical choices

Livelihoods shaped around survivors’ priorities

The project connects livelihood skills and opportunities with confidence to make decisions about work, money and family life. ACT Uganda listens to survivors’ priorities and supports income paths that fit their circumstances.

Economic independence can reduce pressure to remain in exploitative situations and give women more say in their futures.

Systems that keep safety and voice central

The project also supported ACT Uganda’s organisational development. Stronger systems help the organisation manage resources responsibly, coordinate support and keep survivor safety and voice central as the work grows.

The draft reports 300 survivors directly reached; it does not specify the reporting period or a project date range.
